POLO, FACES OF THE FIELD
(On Going Personal Project)
What fascinates me most is that fleeting moment when the match is over — when adrenaline fades, the dust settles, and a player stands before the camera still carrying the intensity of the field. It is in that raw transition, between triumph or loss and exhaustion, that the most powerful portraits emerge: the face stripped of spectacle, yet giving everything to the lens.
While preparing for a polo event in the Hamptons on July 12th, 2025, I brought a backdrop, cameras, and lenses to begin creating this series. With the help of Javier — an extraordinary petisero and "horse whisperer" of the Triángulo-Senvest Polo Team — we carefully relocated one of the team’s star horses and transformed part of the stable into a makeshift photo studio.
With a special focus on the fearless men and women riders, "Polo: Faces of the Field" also aims to capture the patrons, the workers and other vital figures behind the scenes of one of the most extraordinary sports in the world — offering a glimpse into the true heart of the game.
One by one, fascinating characters stepped in front of the lens — and the series was born.
Most recently, in Sotogrande — home to one of the world’s most prestigious annual polo tournaments — I continued this work, photographing extraordinary players and unforgettable moments. Among them: Poroto Cambiaso, carrying forward the legendary Cambiaso name while carving out his own place as one of the sport’s brightest young stars.
Stay tuned — this is just the beginning of a very special series.
